Halo of waste

Halo of waste’ shows the image of a bin lid overlaid with the Xbox 360 power button. The piece is a tribute to my younger years, playing Halo 3, and the many hours spent with friends around that console. By combining the symbol of gaming with an object linked to rubbish, I wanted to reflect on how things that once felt essential to me eventually fade or get discarded. The title plays on this idea a ‘halo’ of joy and nostalgia set against the inevitability of waste. It’s both a personal nod to a formative time and a comment on how technology and memories alike shift from centre stage to the sidelines as we grow older.
