Dripped paint onto recycled coffee cup paper
According to the British Coatings Federation, the average UK home may have as many as 17 cans of leftover paint in the shed, garage or loft. When sorting out the garage I too came across an assortment of old tins and decided to put them to good use. GF Smith had been good enough to donate to me some large sheets of Extract a pioneering paper inspired by our environment. It is a dynamic combination of chemistry and artistry that takes disposable paper coffee cups destined for landfill and transforms them into beautiful paper. Inspired by the paper i wanted to find a way to make art that would use science in its creation. Having found some left over coffee cups in the studio I used these as pendulums to drip the paint. I wanted to embrace the imperfections, drips and splashes to emphasise the recycled theme of the paint, paper and cups.
