Inspired by a love of art history and my travels to Barcelona, one of my favourite European cities. This piece pays homage to the distinct style and techniques of Spanish architect Antoni Gaudi (1852–1926), who was set apart by his willingness to use recycled materials such as ceramics. He was way ahead of his time in the idea of recycling materials, his free-flowing forms were greatly inspired by nature. Ceramics cannot be easily or readily recycled and most end up in landfill. In this age of fast moving interior style, trends have easily become a very (un-friendly) disposable commodity.
