Aluminium cans on a plastic bottle and cardboard structure

Compared to plastic, aluminium is infinitely recyclable – it’s melted down and reformed without ever losing quality. Around 75% of aluminium ever made is still in use today. But the ‘green’ metal’s environmental credentials are let down by its carbon footprint. Aluminium cans might mean less ocean waste, but the production of each can pumps twice as much carbon into the atmosphere as each plastic bottle! I’ve created a 3D fish sculpture out of aluminium cans and a plastic bottle base, to represent the impact carbon pollution is having on climate change and sea life. Carp-e diem.
