Approximately 3 billion aluminium drinks cans end up in landfill or are otherwise not recycled in the UK each year. If an aluminium can goes to landfill, it will sit there for 500 years before it oxidises. Ironically, aluminium is the most recyclable of all packaging materials. Recycling one aluminium can saves enough energy to run a TV for three hours. And the process takes 95% less energy than producing one from its raw materials. So here, I’m turning found aluminium cans into art. Displayed in their crushed and imperfect form. That’s half a dozen fewer cans heading to landfill.
