I used to collect pin badges as a child; favourite characters, TV shows, pop stars, films to popular culture from back in the 80s/90s. I started to create a collection of the badges on my denim jacket. I loved that jacket and the many badges on it.

 

I took it on holiday to Butlins one summer and upsettingly left it there! My mum was angry I lost the jacket, whereas I was more upset about the badges!

 

This piece is my way of recreating the beloved jacket and has been quite cathartic to produce. It feels like I can finally say goodbye to my lost youth!
