This is a modern world

The title of my work is taken from The Jam’s album of the same name released in November 1977.
I was probably a little young for the early albums but by 1980 I was really into The Jam and the mod revival was beginning to take hold, with the RAF target symbol once again being seen on parkas across the land. The modernist aesthetic and music captured my imagination and played a major part in my formative years and continues to influence me and many others to this day. The target symbol is instantly recognisable and very appropriate for our theme of reuse, recycle, repurpose. Originally used by the RAF on planes to identify and prevent friendly fire, repurposed by the mods in the sixties and then recycled again by the mod revival in the late 70s and early 80s and is still used in fashion today.
