Reclaimed wooden sound diffuser

This year we are holding the AiR3 event in our beautiful Grade 1 listed building, Ex Libris (former library). After finding some reclaimed wood (found in the cellar here at WPA), heavily influenced by the wonderful building and its parquet flooring, I decided to create a wooden sound diffuser. I had all the wood cut into 200 45mm square pieces set at 45°. I distressed them with a blow torch to give a worn effect, mirroring the floor, and arranged each piece on to a backboard (again, found in the cellar). Referencing the distinct AiR³ branding, I have also selected three of the sound cubes to be coloured in the three key brand colours of Cyan, Magenta and Yellow, which ties both the unique venue and the event together, creating an engaging reclaimed piece of functional art, this sound diffuser, very appropriate for a library.
