Eye pod
Used coffee pods on a painted black canvas
620mm x 510mm
SOLD
I am a big fan of coffee in the morning to wake me up, typically using one coffee pod a day and I have been guilty of throwing them in the bin rather than recycling. I am therefore adding to a huge waste problem – over 300 million pods end up in landfill every year in the UK!
I decided to collect my old pods and create a piece of art. ‘Eye pod’ is a large eye made up of used coffee pods, depicting the ‘morning wake up’ that they provide me with on a daily basis. Over 300 pods have been used in this piece, which is well on the way to the amount I dispose of in a year!
Since creating this piece and becoming aware of the issue, I have changed to compostable pods and signed up to Podback, a recycling service where you bag your used pods and dispose of them at a drop-off point at my local Morrisons.
